WYNWOOD RESIDENTIAL TOWER
Residential Tower - Miami, FL Situated in the immediate outskirts of downtown Miami, Wynwood is a center of Arts, music, exploration and networking. It is a spot for recreation, yet not many residences are located here, giving room for artists to set up their exhibits in warehouses. This design called for placing a mid-rise tower for living and working, that attempts to blend in with the artistic and cultural surroundings. Extruding a mass from the site, considering setbacks, provided the proper proportions to stack the three main programs: Retail, Office, and Residential, while also hiding a garage in the center. The height of the tower is comfortable enough for residents to get a panoramic view back to the city. After the fifth floor, an amenity deck breaks open the mass to allow for an open courtyard with a pool. The ground retail and office facades are fragmented to represent an artistic billboard for the street level of the art district, followed by the formality of the unit massing which sits on top of it. This project was designed while working for Stantec Architecture.
